Poems (4)

I wrote this one just a few days ago after a conversation with a friend about how so many people don’t even care enough to open their eyes, look around them, and see the people right in their own neighborhoods who are hurting, homeless, etc. We have sooooo much compared to the rest of the world, and yet we are so ungrateful.

Hey Suburbia

Hey, hey, Molly Jane,

Living in the fast lane.

Stop and take a look around,

Anchor your feet back to the ground.

Having clothes and shoes is cool and all,

The world you’re livin’ in is super small.

Make it bigger, just say thank you today.

In most o’ the world children die each day,

You’ve got parents, friends, and a car,

You don’t see how blessed you are.

Give some thanks; don’t complain.

Hey, hey, Molly Jane.
